This series revives discarded or outdated machine parts, while creating a mystery for the viewer to resolve. They are inspired by industrial revolution machinery and beyond; all of the intricate moving parts working together, machined and incomprehensible to the layperson (such as myself). I have often preferred the aesthetic of the inside workings to the outside casing of machines and appliances-and spent countless hours of my youth dismantling and tinkering with broken or replaced ones. The mysterious puzzlement of what is inside and how it works is a feeling I try to recreate in the Immachinations series pieces. By having many of the works seeming to reveal a portion of their inner workings, I hope to captivate the viewer by forcing them to imagine the object's function.
